have you ever
felt the sensation
of standing perfectly still
when you weren't standing still
at all
when you're walking so quickly
you fear
you're not walking at all
and your legs get all
tingly
and paradoxically numb
and the world is moving
but you don't know how
because
obviously
you're standing quite still
and the words in your mind
are running a race track
worse than a joyce novel
moving so briskly
expeditiously
that you've no time at all
to see who has won
no time even
to make a bet
on which thought-horse
will win
even though it's your race
your mind
your ideas
your feet
not doing the
walking that's getting you
nowhere
but somewhere
because somehow
you're still moving
i have.
and if you haven't
you really ought to
because
its strange
and we all need the bizarre
to remind us
that we ourselves
as individuals
particularly the abnormal ones
are truly
by definition
exceptional.
animals!
i am calling a gathering
to those who speak our
tongue
please listen to my wounded song:
i've been feeling much too little lately
and i know its time to move on
but i've not got a pin
for my next destination
i long to scratch these feet of mine
to dust off my traveling shoes
and wander
since i was born
'neath the great mountain
my feet have been ready
why do i pause at all?
oh wanderers!
i long for you
join me
encourage me
carry me
i'll carry you
when the burden of your
self becomes too heavy
and we shall stand still
together
and witness
the world buzz past us
and we'll whisper to one another
the races in our heads
and we'll find kooky things
on the sides of roads
to remind us who we are
but in the meanwhile
kindred
this is still a dream
please
light incense for me
say a mantra for me
i need patience
and guidance
