Motivational Speech (9 January 2010)

i wish i could hate someone enough
to the point of seeking revenge
because i imagine
that would be a good reason
to get up in the morning

when i turn one-and-twenty
i will be entering my
twenty-second year
the anniversary of my exit
from
solitary confinement
well give me a drink
and surely then i shall
have something to celebrate

let me express to you a fear:
i'm afraid that i have no original thought
luckily for me
i've programmed part of my brain
to be a sorting algorithm
mathematically
systematically
rationally
and somewhat
haphazardly
picking and choosing my beliefs
the idea is
that the formula for my belief system
will be entirely unique
variables
including, but not limited to:
x: the potential existence of souls;
y: the theoretical differentiation of good and bad,
sometimes referred to as Good and Evil;
z: the various components of nihilism

as i have studied
the cross section of human specimens
readily available to me
for my sociological endeavors
i have noticed a consistent trait of
egotistic political shenanigans

"the cross we bear"
has shown itself to be
a soapbox
carried around
for the purpose of
vigorous, emotional crusades
against one another
all for the sake of idea
(when did we become so embittered?)

pause to quiet yourself.

i'm gonna go find a reason to live
maybe drink a few beers on the way
plan is, go from city to city
starting bonfires
may i encourage you
.throw.your.soapbox.in.
drink a few beers
sing a few songs
and when you leave
don't forget

I would love to hear you read this aloud.

I second that. It feels like it could be a performed piece. Perhaps, hence the title...

I like your use of vocabulary and how you x, y, and z things.
